NZIAHS exists to promote:

- the development of science and technology in agriculture and horticulture
- the use of agricultural and horticultural technology
NZIAHS represents over 500 members working in all aspects of the primary sector including research and teaching in universities, Crown Research Institutes, private sector companies, management consultancy and tertiary study. Our corporate members include leading companies in the sector.
The Institute has active sections in Christchurch, Palmerston North, Hamilton and Auckland. Here members can participate in presentations, field trips, and support national and international forums and conferences. NZIAHS is the official body in New Zealand affiliated to the International Society of Horticultural Science and it is a member society of the New Zealand Royal Society. AgScience magazine is published several times a year. The blog provides many news items from right across the spectrum of interests of our members.
