Awards
The aims of NZIAHS include providing support towards and recognizing achievement in agricultural and horticultural research.
Towards this end, there are eleven awards managed by the awards committee. The winners of each award are announced at the annual NZIAHS Convention.
Awards are available to members of The New Zealand Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Science. Three of the awards provide members with assistance towards the cost of undertaking research.
Awards are also offered for students at Massey University and Lincoln University.
There are also awards for communication in agriculture and horticulture and for service to the Institute at the local section level.
Applications and nominations are accepted each year and must be posted to the Secretariat.
The committee reserves the right to forgo giving awards in any year as they see fit.
Review and selection of awardees is greatly assisted by the provision of appropriate supporting material and substantive evidence of contributions and achievements.
This information must be supplied by applicants or nominators and be pertinent to the purpose of the award and selection criteria. It is difficult to favourably process candidates for awards without this information.
Nominations and applications which are inadequate will be considered 'as is'. Additional information will not be sought by the Awards Committee.
|Supporting material will be award specific, but could include a CV, full list of publications, evidence of importance and impact of work, statements from industry, referees' reports, relevant media articles, and other awards received (with an explanation of their importance).
Fellow of NZIAHS Award candidates or nominators must not make a direct approach to committee members.
All applications and nominations for each award must be made only in the prescribed manner.
